A classic dessert with a fruity twist, offering several health benefits when prepared with nutritious ingredients and minimal added sugar. An excellent source of dietary fibre and rich in antioxidants known for their anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting properties.
Ingredients
The Crumble
- 300g plain flour
- 20g brown sugar
- 180g unsalted butter
- Pinch of salt
The Filling
- 3 Apples
- 1 Pear
- 10 Blackberries
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 Lemon
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 100ml boiling water

Method
Preheat the oven to 180.
Make your crumble in a large bowl by mixing plain flour, sugar and salt.
Cut your unsalted butter into cubes, add to your flour mixture and combine with your hands by rubbing the tips of your fingers together.
Cut your apples and pears into rough 2cm cubes. Add to an ovenproof dish along with halved blackberries.
Drizzle the fruits with honey, lemon and sprinkle with cinnamon.
Then pour 100ml of boiling water into the dish.
Carefully toss the fruits with a fork, ensuring the cinnamon is widely distributed.
Cover the dish with crumble, and bake in the oven for 35-40 minutes. The crumble should be golden brown and bubbling at the edges.
Tips For Affordability:

- -White sugar can replace brown (or use no sugar at all in the crumble, the berries help a lot with the sweetness)
- -Remove cinnamon and lemon, and it’ll still taste amazing
